Thinking About Jobs

I was thinking about my future, so I started thinking about jobs. I started wondering what I would want to do when I'm older. I've thought for a while now that i want to go into medicine, my dream would be to go into neuro-surgeory or anesthesiology. While thinking about this I asked my self, what are the highest paying jobs? I found on cbsnews.com that some of the highest paying jobs are surgeons, psychiatrists as well as other medical fields, but also petroleum engineers and air traffic controllers. These jobs are the top, stable paying educated jobs yet almost every one requires many years of education that is also very expensive. Many people would probably think of the best jobs as get rich and famous quick but in the real world these stable, high educated jobs are available to anyone who puts in the work while only a lucky one percent will become famous, professional athletes or the next Bill Gates. Despite high loans and a long period of schooling and work before you even begin to bring in high pay and are able to pay off loans, these jobs offer a sort of insurance of great profit. These jobs are the highest paying that anyone can achieve and they may have a long work span, however when you think about something that you will do for most of your life there are bigger factors to consider. If you love what you do, then it would only be more exciting years making plenty of money rather than sitting at home eating a burger.

Continued intrigue and making a difference are very important to me when i consider my future. I've always thought being a doctor was the perfect way to spend my life, other than being a pro basketball player of course. If I was a doctor I would be able to make plenty of money to have a prosperous life. Being involved in medicine I would know for sure that every day my love of science would be able to be filled and my mind challenged every day on the job. My third reason for my main picks of jobs would be that i would know for a fact that every day i would be helping someone, I would be able to save even just one life and that could make everything worth while.

Thinking about the future is hard especially imagining what you could do for the next half of your life. I believe that the goals i set for where I want to be with my future has set the perfect map up for my road ahead and I think everyone should figure out what they want to be able to feel and say when they stand atop the White House podium or create the newest dish at their restaurant, what you do has to be fueled by your passion, get you to a place in life you are happy with, and make you feel proud and lucky to do it every time you walk in. This is how you build a future you are excited to be a part of and set your self up for success and happiness.

  1. I think that your blog was very insightful. I can relate, because I have thought about my future many times. I also agree that despite student loans and many years of education that in the end it pays off for itself.

  2. Just like Brandon said, I find your blog very insightful. I have also thought about what job I would like to pursue later on in life. I would think long and hard about this subject. To me it is not all about the money, it is about how I would like to spend my future. I have always wanted to pursue a career in biology or animal science. It has always fascinated me and i think that the pay would be reasonable. I believe that everyone (in high school) should be thinking about their future. Kids these days are to caught up with now, they don't ever spend time thinking about how they are going to live in the future. After all isn't all of our education preparing us for the future.

  3. I enjoyed your article because it really caused me to think as well. I began to think about my future. I enjoyed you gave your own perspective and your belief in what's in store in the future. However, perhaps in the future you could make your article easier to read by excluding the simple large body paragraphs, and including bullet notes or other things to make the article easier to scan.

  4. In all honesty, I really liked your post because I can completely relate. I have spent countless hours googling what field I want to go into, who I want to become, and what I want to make of my future. I definitely agree that whatever job some choses should be based off of passion. However, money works well too.

  5. Considering the fact that college is right around the corner, we all must face forward and decide what we want to become as it will determine our whole future. Like you, I hope to choose and find a career which I am passionate about so I am able to use my abilities to the fullest. Even though people want high paying jobs, I believe that whether or not you are happy with your profession is also an important decision factor of careers as it is meaningless to have a job you don't enjoy.

  6. This is a great reminder for the big responsibilities looming around the corner. in all honesty, right now I have no clue where to go, and it's great you've gotten such a head start. In 6th grade, the teachers gave out this sheet which listed jobs to have in the future, and I just scanned and found the one with the highest job earnings. It's pretty sad, even as a mere 10 year old, I pointed out what makes the world run. Money, money, money. With our society today I'm sure that's just what everyone aims for, to have a high earning job. What're the odds that most of your friends are going to work their hardest in order to land a McDonald's job when they're 30? Everyone wants to find a job that they're passionate about, but then the rest of the dreamers have to take the "boring" jobs.
